The Words That Sell

What You Say, Who You Say It To, How you Say It: If you have or can get a list of people who are already interested or genuinely likely to be interested in your product or service then you are well on your way to being successful with your postcard marketing. Before that, you have to answer the key question, “Who should I send my postcard offers to?”

After that is answered, your next problems are what to say to them and what to ask them to do.

Let’s Look At What To Say To Them: It is vital that you get attention fast. If you don’t get attention fast your offer will not get read.

1. An excellent way to get attention and hence get read is to boldly give the 5 or 6 key benefits of your product or service.

Put the biggest benefit on top and list off the rest in descending order of importance.

For example:

How Would You Like To Get:

• Biggest benefit

• Second biggest

• Third biggest benefit

• You get the idea

People are interested in things they want. If your benefits are really beneficial to them they will read your postcard (and if your list is good and you really know what benefits your ideal customer is seeking they will respond too).

2. Next thing to do is give a very brief explanation of how you can provide the benefits you named.

3. Next, persuade them to act by giving them a good reason to contact you.

4. You can offer a testimonial from a really happy customer.

5. If you have or can give a guarantee, give one. Guarantees take the risk away for the person receiving your postcard.

6. Make them an offer that no reasonable person who had an interest in your product or service could easily refuse.

How Should I Say It?

• Urgently ask the people you send postcards to, to order from you or contact you for free information about your products and services.

Example:

Now is your chance to take advantage of our special offer. Don’t miss out. Call NOW!

• Be sure to explain exactly how to order or contact you for further information.

When you follow this structure for creating your postcards you will get good response to your mailings.

Sirius Remembers September 11 in 2005 with commemorative eve

SIRIUS satellite radio has made an effort to reach out to those affected by September 11. Uninterrupted coverage and observance held at the World Trade Center site. Reading of victims’ names by their siblings and several other commemorative events will begin at approximately 8:30 am ET and conclude at 1:00 pm ET on channel 126. The observance will pause at four moments–twice to mark the times that each plane hit the towers, and twice to mark the time when each tower fell.
Said New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg:

“As New York City’s renewal continues, we pause on the anniversary of that terrible day in September of 2001 to remember those we lost, and to reaffirm our commitment to honor their lives–both by rebuilding Lower Manhattan and by creating a beautiful memorial that will touch millions of hearts. Sadly, the unconscionable acts of terrorism perpetrated against New Yorkers and Americans on September 11th continue to be carried out in other parts of the world, and our prayers go out to the families and victims. On the fourth anniversary of the September 11th attack here in New York City, we plan to mark this solemn occasion by asking siblings to take the lead in this year’s ceremony. In this small way, we acknowledge the special bonds they share with their beloved brothers and sisters who died that day.”

Said New York Governor George Pataki:

“Time will never dull the grief of those who lost their loved ones on that tragic day, nor will it diminish our dedication to remembering our heroes and ensuring that a fitting memorial rises in their name. As we approach the fourth anniversary of September 11, 2001, we will particularly remember the siblings of those who were lost, as they have the privilege of honoring their loved ones at this year’s ceremony. On September 11, 2005, there will be, as there has been each year, a statewide moment of silence and ringing of bells at 8:46 am, so that people from all over New York State, indeed, across America and the world, can take a moment to remember the heroes we lost and the spirit of freedom that prevailed on that day. It is a spirit of freedom that will endure always, on the site of the World Trade Center, and in our hearts.”

Organize Your Christmas Shopping

Filed under:University Of Travel — posted on @ 2:06 am

Grab a notebook. Grab a pen. It’s time to get serious about your Christmas shopping by making your list (and checking it twice).

Make a list of the people you’ll be buying for this year. Leave space between each person’s name. Now go back through the list and write down gift ideas and a rough dollar amount you’re willing to spend on each person.

Example:

1. Aunt Fran - Collects lighthouses, loves golf - $30.00

2. Beth - Candles, bath and body products - $20.00

3. Joe - Something for his new truck, loves fishing - $50.00

Bring your notebook shopping with you. It will help you to stay focused on who you need to shop for, a general idea of what you’re looking for and your price range. Making a detailed list like this will prove invaluable in keeping you organized and on budget with your Christmas shopping. As you shop, cross off each person on your list. Be sure to keep an eye open for bargains and grab a few extra gifts - there’s always that visitor that shows up that you didn’t anticipate.

Set holiday shopping goals for yourself and jot them down in your notebook.

1. I will have all cards in the mail by December 10th.

2. All of my major shopping will be done by December 15th.

3. I will not go over budget!

Making lists and setting goals for yourself this holiday will save you time and stress and allow you to enjoy the season for what it really is. If you haven’t started your shopping, start now. It’s not too late to get on track. The first step is starting your notebook, making your list and getting a plan of action.

After the holidays, store your notebook away somewhere (perhaps with your decorations). It will serve as a great reference when you’re ready to start your shopping next year.

Happy Holidays, Happy Shopping…and by keeping a Holiday Notebook - Happy You!

Does your website need an IP Address?? Does it really matter?

A Web site hosted with a “dedicated IP” never changes location.
The advantages of having a dedicated IP number is that dedicated
IP’s tend to lend themselves much better to advanced web
development, they are much easier to work with and they are more
compatible with server side applications. So why don’t all
hosting companies offer all their customers a dedicated IP?
There are numerous reasons ranging from cost to the availability
of IP addresses. In reality this is a hotly debated topic that
no one can prove which is better, or in reality; the battle is
are dedicated IP’s per website better for the owner of that
domain and his web presence then a shared IP environment. This
in my opinion, is the real question.

I like to break things down in real laymen terms and forget all
about SEO optimization jargon; IT terms etc and let’s examine at
it from the point of physical street address.

Shared IP’s is like an apartment building where you can have one
address i.e. first Avenue but then have 1000 apartment numbers.
The mail and people show up to the front door and the gatekeeper
lets them in and points them in the right direction. The people
usually find the right apartment. A Dedicated IP per website is
like living in a single detached house and your address is 3
First Avenue - The people knock on the door you answer - faster
and less chance of something going wrong. The search engines
“BOTS” as they are called come and knock on doors, read and
examine you site, determine how many people want your site, look
at certain content etc and then leave and compile the
information for their search engines. Do they penalize a website
for being in an apartment building? More than likely NO! Now do
you want to be in that apartment building if you neighbour is a
spam artist, or do you want to be in that apartment if the
people above you a running a high volume mail order business?
Sometime you need to wait for the elevator to come get down to
leave or your customers waiting at the front door because of you
neighbour high use of the front entrance.

So the above paragraph does not really say which is better, even
though I would prefer my own dedicated IP for my Website. Other
advantages to having a unique IP for your site is if you change
servers, you can point your users to a new IP, so they don’t
have to wait for the domain name change to propagate. With a
dedicated static IP, it can also be simpler to upload and test
your site before transferring the domain name to a new server.
Setting up Secure sockets (SSL) is also much simpler. You may
also not want to share your IP with some sites that could lead
to your site being banned by search engines or spam lists. It’s
more stable having your own dedicated IP for your Website.

Now the debate is always about search engines optimization but
here is my belief; if you get added benefits of search engine
optimization that would be great as well. Don’t be fooled by
hosting companies that do not want to provide you a static IP
for you site, or charge extra for it. Don’t listen to excuses
about the shortage of IP’s and that they are not needed. My
company ( www.Rebelnetworks.com ) offers dedicated static IP for
every website, and dedicated server we host. The reality is it
costs them more money to provide this type of service with a
static dedicated IP’s per site and thus they most hosting
companies don’t provide them. When your ready to host you
business, or if you already have a business on line but want
extra benefits ask for a dedicated IP address for your website.
