10 Holiday Survival Tips - Look Out for the Holidaze!

The Holidays are more stressful and overwhelming, now.

Do you want to be happier and healthier this holiday season?
Would you like to enjoy the holidays more?

This article is devoted to Holiday Stress Survival Tips to improve quality of life through the holidays.

This holiday season will be stressfilled. World economic swings and terrorism have created conditions that have changed our holiday celebrations. Attitudes towards travel, being with family, celebration in the face of fear and sadness, will make this year’s holiday season different than in years past. Adjustments will help to create new ways of participating in the holiday events. These can be both positive and negative. Consider new traditions in self-care. Search for community support that will open your heart to the joys that are possible in this season.

Remember the things that are the most stressful are the things that you care the most about, but have the least control over. World events, the economy, the way people respond, and our families (and children) are major stressors that we wish we could control, but often can not.

1. Schedule Time for Self-Care!

Regular exercise and time for stress management are a must. Find what techniques work best for you, and use these tools. This is non-negotiable time devoted for your health and well being.

2. Eat Well

Moderation is the key. Do not use alcohol or drugs for stress management. Do not “over” celebrate. Avoid fast foods.

3. Avoid Caffeine

Minimize the impact of caffeine on your life.

4. Plan the Holiday… Set some limits

Do not over spend your financial and emotional resources.

5. Control Your Expectations of:

Happiness, Joy, Sadness, and Loneliness

6. Be Nice to Others

Give compliments and smile. Around negative, anxious, or rude people, take a breath and remember that you do not need to get pulled into other people’s holiday misery or their craziness.

7. Reach Out for Support

Talk with “stable” friends or family, or clergy, or mental health counselors.

8. Humor Helps… Have Fun

Laugh daily, if possible.

9. Stay in the Present!

Mentally and emotionally, do not be consumed by things that happened in the past or fear events in the future. Enjoy the people you are with and make the very best of the situation that you are in.

10. Find the True Spirit of the Holidays

Share this those people who you love or care about.

Please take good care of yourself.

Product Review: Finders Key Purse - Puppy Dog Keychain

Instead of fumbling for keys, try this handy little purse
accessory and never dig for keys again!

Shana Clagg, independent rep for Finders Key Purse, was
wonderful to work with. She was very personal, and made sure my
package got to me. The keychain did in fact arrive safe and
sound in a padded envelop.

The style I was able to preview was the dalmation puppy. He’s
very cute - has a red collar and heart shapped tag. Instructions
inside the envelope made it easy to use this keychane right
away, and he looks adorable hanging on the side of my purse.

Finders Key Purse doesn’t offer “just keychains”, but rather a
unique way to keep track of your keys. You attach it to your key
ring, and then rest the hook on the purse’s edge. A stylish way
to save time digging for keys!

Finders Key Purse come in many different styles - everything
from retro to pets to sports. You are sure to find one that fits
your unique style. In addition to the cute and functional
keychains, Finders Key also offers designer keys to go along
with your keychain. Makes it very easy to find your most used
keys in an instant because of the special colors and designs.

This site is definitely unique, and offers a great way to save
you time!

Time Well Spent

Filed under:School of Management — posted on @ 2:01 pm

It is common knowledge that creating and living according to a financial budget is a requisite for fiscal health and well-being. Budgets enable allocation of resources according to priorities. $x for shelter, $x for food, $x for clothing, $x for education, $x for savings, $x for transportation, $x for entertainment, etc.

What is not commonly applied, despite the preponderance of daily planners and time management software, is a temporal budget. Time is our most precious asset. It is also our only non-renewable asset. Each heartbeat, each second ticking on the clock denotes one moment less of our diminishing asset of time.

Each day presents us with 24 hours = 1,440 minutes = 81,400 seconds.

How are you spending these ever diminishing seconds? How have you budgeted your time? To what purpose do you pass the time of your life away?

I presume, since you have enough interest in your own well-being to subscribe to this eZine, that you have an interest in personal fulfillment.

There are aspects to your being; each aspect having its own needs. In order to be fulfilled and happy, these needs will need to be met. Time must therefore be allocated or budgeted to fulfill those needs if you wish to achieve any measure of fulfillment.

For the sake of simplicity, I will identify the main aspects of self as physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.

How much time in each do you have budgeted to meet your physical needs, your emotional needs, your mental needs and your spiritual needs?

Of course, just as there is no clear delineation between these various aspects of self, there is also the possibility of getting several needs met from the same activity; say for example…sex.

So, now that I have your attention, please seriously consider taking the time to manage your time. Examine your spending habits and create a time budget to help you manage your most valuable asset.

What amount of time do you have allocated for the fulfillment of your various needs? Do you have time set aside to exercise? Time budgeted for ongoing education? Time allocated for honoring the sacred?

Does it really make sense to squander all those hours in front of the idiot box? Are those daily commutes underutilized times? Could you be learning something from tape or CD to increase your IQ instead of “dumbing down” to withstand the boredom of another lap in the rat race by listening to talk radio?

1,440. Divvie it up. Prioritize it. Spend it well. Invest it in your own enhancement.

Every moment lost or wasted is gone forever. Each moment spent without purpose or intent is like money tossed in the fire.

What’s the Right Look?

There are so many different hairstyles for different people and different occasions. If you do an internet search online, you will find an amazing number of web sites and articles dedicated to that very topic. You can find everything from articles on wacky and wild hair styles, to specific and serious articles on what kind of style for what shaped face you have. The possibilities are nearly endless.

One of the most common desires for people seeking information about hair styles is what to do when you have a “long” face. This is particularly an issue with some people who have really proportionately large foreheads. There are a lot of options for someone who has this particular problem. Someone with straight hair can create the appearance of more width by using bangs. Chin-length bobs and cuts can also be effective options because they also work well to create an effective illusion of width. Curls and waves also add width, but for general appearance sake it might be wise to avoid short layers that add volume on top. Bangs can make your face appear shorter because they cover up large foreheads.

While these are all positive options, there are some styles that you will need to avoid. Any type of style that involves extremely long hair or extremely short hair will end up elongating your face, which you are looking to avoid in the first place. If a long face is not a problem, you may want to consider looking for a style that involves long, curly hair. There are very few looks that turn the head more than long, curly hair. If you are a girl with long curly hair, and you are having trouble with “frizzing,” one way to stop that is to not brush your curls. Take the time to use your fingers to break up curls, or you will continue to have the problems you are already facing.

There are many magazines and e-zines dedicated specifically to these types of hair care topics. For each person, there is a different style. Find pictures, and try to imagine each look on you. Does it accentuate your best features? Does it hide the worst? Do you like it? That is the best and most important decision. If you like your hair, your attitude will show and it is attitude that attracts other people’s attention more than anything else. Remember that, and if you find a style that works in your eyes, it will work for everyone else, as well.
